In addition to her audiovisual performance, the Taipei based artist Meuko! Meuko! will play a DJ set during FIBER's club night on Saturday at Garage Noord. She’s an experimental music producer and live performer, who started performing solo in 2015 and accelerated her terrain to include live performances, immersive installations and sound projects. Her DJ set can be described as a colleague of extreme, spacious and highly textured atmospheres, which blend and mutate into both alienating and beautiful structures.
Each of her performances contains improvisation and elements of new works, combining disciplines of improvisation with conceptual ideas of noise, clubbing, strange sounds, field recordings that conjure at times ritualistic performances with sources tracing back to Taiwan’s own spiritual landscape. Between Taoist gods, Buddhist ceremonies are the myriad of a cityscape with tropical humidity, its greenery enveloping the molding concrete city blocks.
