Australian born and raised Makeda combines aural, physical and curatorial exploration in her practice. This multidisciplinary approach spans music, performance/installation works, radio, design and fashion. Makeda began her involvement in the music world in her hometown Brisbane, where she has now returned after a long stint in Australia’s arts capital Melbourne. The space, blue sky and sub-tropical weather of Brisbane play strongly into the new ‘Venus Leak’ EP (2021) - which distills concepts of intuition, self-realisation and personal growth into a wonky, yet melodically optimistic palette.
Late last year METAL Mag wrote about the artist “Makeda is the avant-garde minimal electronic producer we didn't know we needed. Hailing from Australia, she takes on colonialism in her new EP Venus Leak”.
