Merel is an Amsterdam based artist. As born and raised near the city of the Hague, her fascination for electronic music started was sparked by Rush Hour and the Dutch West Coast sound at the early age of 16. Labels such as Bunker and Staalplaat heavily influenced Merel’s musical development. Being only interested in some specific electronic styles at first, she later learned to open up to a wider and more experimental range of sounds. Now, for Merel, searching new tracks feels like provoking her own musical framework. Describing it as a ‘continuous challenge of her preferences’, Merel tries to avoid boredom at all times. Currently she is resident at Garage Noord in Amsterdam.
