Colette Aliman (Talk)
She/her — USA
Part of Session #2: Other Frequencies (with Andrius Arutiunian)
Saturday 18 June | 14:00 - 15:40
Location: Likeminds
Colette Aliman is a Rotterdam-based creative researcher. Colette has an intuitive relation to sound. Transmuting empirical knowledge into design is the focus in all her projects. Her work advocates for the investigation of urban soundscapes, through the methodology of intuitive recalibration. After graduating from the Design Academy in 2019, Colette launched the platform Sonic Recalibration Lab, to research the soundscapes that we and other species find ourselves in as a result of the industrial revolution. The lab explores how we can redefine what our future sonic practices could be through experimentation with the politics of listening and the intersections of multi-species sonic cultures.
During her performative talk and live soundscape at FIBER, Colette will discuss the soundscape of the ‘Mechaphony’, and the integration of bio-logic into technology.
