Exhibition Opening: Mutation
Installations, Music and Artist Q&A
June 8, Dokzaal Amsterdam
We are pleased to invite everyone to the festive opening of our festival exhibition Mutation on Wednesday 8 June. It will take place in the beautiful Dokzaal in Amsterdam from 17:00 to 23:00.
Through art and design, FIBER's festival exhibition Mutation aims to reveal the changing understanding of the relationships between humans, nature and technology. The biological phenomenon of mutation - the changing of genetic material - is used as a metaphorical lens to critically examine how humans are able to live together in, and with, the rapidly changing world around us. The artworks raise questions such as 'How do we respond to another virus with far-reaching consequences?' 'What will happen to people and their cultures when we speculate about life on other planets?' and 'Are we, forced by global warming, able to steer towards a new post-human world in which man is no longer the centre of?'
Participating artists: Deborah Mora (IT/NL) & Virginia Vivaldi (IT/NL), Xandra van der Eijk (NL), The Institute of Queer Ecology (US), Flora Reznik (AR/NL), Kurina Sohn (KR/NL), Alice Bucknell (US/UK), Anna Diljá Sigurðardóttir (IS/NL), Zeno van den Broek (NL).
Music will be provided by DJs YB3L & Kendu Bari. You will be hydrated by our friends from Oedipus Brewing and Lemonaid & ChariTea.
